Police constable allegedly commits suicide at official residence of Assam CM

Guwahati/IBNS: An Assam police constable posted at the official residence of Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal had allegedly committed suicide in Guwahati.

The security personnel was found hanging at a toilet on Sunday night.

The deceased person was identified as 49-year-old Babul Chandra Das hailing from Patharkuchi area near Pathsala in Barpeta district.

Guwahati city police Commissioner Munna Prasad Gupta said that, the security personnel was deployed at the 10th Assam Police Battalion (APBN), Kahilipara and he was posted at a outside post of the Assam Chief Minister’s official residence.

The top police official also said that, he was undergoing a heart disease treatment.

Police suspected that, he had taken the adverse step under depression.

Police of Latasil police station have sent the body of the security personnel for post-mortem.

It is to be mentioned that, a similar incident took place at the official residence of Assam Chief Minister two years back while a security guard shot himself with his service rifle.
