Police busts major fake degree racket being operated by Nagpur-based educational institute

Thane, Mar 5 (UNI) The City Police on Tuesday booked the founder and two other employees of the Nagpur-based Indian Institute of Management and Engineering(IIM & E) on the alleged charge of selling fake degree certificates for multiple range of courses,stated the Thane Police Public Relations Officer(PRO) Sukhada Narkar.

The Crime Branch busted this fake degree racket while probing a similar case where a paramedical institute sold degree certificates related to pharmacy courses.

It was during the investigation that the sleuths came across the fake educational certificates issued by the IIM & E located in the Kamptee city of Nagpur.

The PRO said the accused--founder Nayeem,Pallavi Chavhan,and a director--have been booked by the Manpada Police Station under relevant IPC sections of cheating and forgery.

All the pupils who purchased the fake degree certificates hail from the localities which come under the jurisdiction of the Manpada Police Station.

He further said the batches of students which purchased fake degree certificates in the past eight years are being identified and even the investigation is underway to find out whether they have acquired employment based on these forged certificates.

The Crime Branch is probing the extent of this fake degree racket and no arrest has been made in the case till now,added the PRO.
