PNB scam: Done nothing wrong, says accused Mehul Choksi

New Delhi, Feb 24 (IBNS): Mehul Choksi, who is one of the accused in the PNB scam, recently told his employees in a letter that he has done nothing wrong, media reports said.

Choksi, who is also the maternal uncle of prime accused diamond czar Nirav Modi, said the truth shall prevail.

He has expressed his helplessness to return the loans as all his bank accounts have been seized by the investigating agency.

Trying to assure his employees, Choksi said all employee-dues will be cleared off once the justice prevails.

On Feb 14, the CBI received complaints from PNB, which detected a Rs 11,292 crore fraud involving Modi.

So far, five arrests have been made in connection to the scam.

Modi, who is in the centre of a huge storm, reportedly left the country in January, much before the scam came to light.

According to media reports, he is now in New York.

Meanwhile, Interpol has issued diffusion notice against Modi, his wife Ami, brother Nishal and partner Choksi.

While the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered two cases against Modi, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has reportedly seized gold and diamond worth Rs 5,500 crores from the searches conducted at 17 properties of the diamond merchant across India.
