PM's remarks on Manmohan Singh : Rajya Sabha adjourned till Dec 27 following Cong uproar

New Delhi, Dec 22 (IBNS) : The logjam in Parliament continued on Friday for the sixth consecutive day as the  Rajya Sabha was  adjourned till December 27 following persistent uproar over the Congress' demand for apology from  Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his remarks on Manmohan Singh.

Uproar rocked the Lok Sabha as well as Congress members kept insisting that the PM tender an apology for what he had said during campaigning in his home state of Gujarat.

“If you don’t let the House run, I will have to adjourn it till December 27. You will also get a long weekend,” Rajya Sabha chairman Venkaiah Naidu told opposition members.

On Thursday, the Rajya Sabha was adjourned for the day amidst uproar by Congress MPs on Modi’s remarks against his predecessor  and the BJP’s “smear campaign” against the UPA in the 2G spectrum case.

PM Modi had said that  Singh, in a dinner held for Pakistani guests, had discussed Gujarat election with them along with other Congress leaders.

The winter session started last week following attacks by the opposition over delay due to Gujarat assembly election. The parliament sessions held in the past few days have been disrupted as Congress demanded apology from the PM.
