Srinagar, Dec 8 (IBNS): Security has been beefed up across Srinagar as Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address his maiden election rally in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday.

According to reports,  the cricket Stadium in Sonawar, where Modi is going to address his supporters during his election rally, has virtually been sealed by a large contingent of police and CRPF personnel.

Special check points have been set up at various places within the city and its outskirts.

"JK Police along with other forces, including paramilitary CRPF men, have been deployed in strength around Cricket Stadium, and all the pedestrians, people traveling in vehicles and bikers are being thoroughly frisked" a senior police official earlier told IBNS adding that security around all the sensitive and volatile areas across Srinagar have been beefed up to ensure peaceful day on Monday.

"CCTVs have been installed at different locations while Sharpshooters have been posted on rooftops in the region's main city, Srinagar, sports stadium. Security forces also have put steel barricades on the roads and are checking vehicles and frisking commuters and pedestrians," he said.

Modi visited the state at a time when Jammu and Kashmir witnessed four serial attacks on Friday.

On Friday,  four serial terror attacks rocked Kashmir on Friday resulting in the death of several  people including 11 security personnel.

Lt. Gen. Subrata Saha on Sunday said that the terrorists belonged to Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) group and were highly trained as well as equipped to carry special operations.

"The attacks were well co-ordinated and synchronized. There is no doubt that the terrorists were highly trained and well equipped to carry out special operations," Saha said.

"Items and ammunition recovered from the terrorists were from Pakistan branding," he  said

Separatist organizations have called for a general strike on Dec 8 in Kashmir valley.
