New Delhi, Mar 18 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be travelling to Dehradun, Uttarakhand, on Saturday, to attend Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat's oath taking ceremony.

The Prime Minister broke the news on social media.

"Will be in Dehradun this afternoon to attend the oath taking ceremony of Shri Trivendra Singh Rawat," his tweet read.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs  on Friday selected Trivendra Singh Rawat as its chief ministerial candidate for Uttarakhand.

Rawat will be sworn-in as Uttarakhand Chief Minister at Dehradun's Parade Ground.

Rawat, 57, was elected to the state Assembly from Doiwala constituency as he defeated Congress's Hira Singh Bisht by a margin of over 24,000 votes.

A Thakur leader, he  is said to be close to RSS, the ideological mentor of BJP. He was among the frontrunners for Uttarakhand CM's post.

Rawat is also known for his proximity to BJP chief Amit Shah.
