PM Modi to address UN General Assembly

New Delhi, Aug 2 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to address the United Nations (UN) General Assembly in September this year, which is going to be his first global speech after he assumed the office in May last.

India’s “Head of Government” is scheduled to address the General Debate of the 69th Session of the UN General Assembly on September 27, the first provisional list of speakers released by the UN said.

The UN General Debate is scheduled from September 24 to October 1 in which top world leaders address the general assembly discussing many crucial global issues.

According to reports, the leader of Brazil will be the first speaker to address the debating session to an audience of nearly 200 world leaders followed by US President Barack Obama.

PM Modi is expected address the General Debate with the leaders of Bangladesh, China and Russia on a same day while Pakistan is slated to speak at the General Assembly on September 25.

Besides addressing the General Assembly, PM Modi is expected to travel to Washington for his first meeting with US President Barack Obama.
