PM Modi, others take oath as Lok Sabha MPs

New Delhi, Jun 17 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi took oath as the Lok Sabha MP on Monday.

Modi was elected from Uttar Pradesh's Varanasi constituency in the 17th Lok Sabha elections.

Apart from Modi, other members of the lower house are also taking oath.

This is the first Parliament session since the new government was formed last month.

This session, which will end on Jul 26, assumes significance as Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Budget on July 5.

One of the key bills which is likely to be tabled in the Rajya Sabha is the Triple Talaq Bill, which will end the practice of instant divorce given to women in Muslim community.
