Modi said he has urged several people including cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, Bollywood superstars Salman Khan and Priyanka Chopra, yoga guru Baba Ramdev to start the initiative.

"I have invited 9 people and asked them to come to public places and work towards a Clean India. I ask them to invite 9 more people too," Modi said.

Modi said: "I have invited Mridula Sinha ji, I have invited Sachin Tendulkar, Baba Ramdev, ShashiTharoor, Kamal Haasan, Priyanka Chopra, SalmanKhan, team of Tarak Mehta Ka Oolta Chashma for taking up the initiative."

Modi started the campaign on the day of 'Gandhi Jayanti' when the country observes the birth anniversary of the 'Father of the Nation' Mahatma Gandhi.

"We shoul;d give back something to Gandhiji," he said.
