New Delhi/UNI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi hosted a farewell dinner for outgoing President Ram Nath Kovind here Friday.

The dinner was also attended by President-elect Droupadi Murmu, Vice President Venkaiah Naidu, several ministers, Padma awardees and tribal leaders.

Sources said that the dinner was unique in a sense as it did not not have the usual Lutyens Delhi gatherings.

It was a gathering which had good representation from all parts of the country.

Various Padma awardees were also present during the event, along with many tribal leaders from across the country.

"Hosted a dinner in honour of President Kovind Ji. Smt. Droupadi Murmu Ji, Venkaiah Ji, other esteemed dignitaries including Ministers were present. We were also glad to welcome several grassroots level achievers, Padma awardees, tribal community leaders and others at the dinner," said the Prime Minister in a tweet.

Modi also shared glimpses from the event to honour President Ram Nath Kovind in which he was seen greeting the dignitaries and interacting with the guests.

Meanwhile, the preparations for the swearing-in ceremony of President-elect Droupadi Murmu in the central hall of the Parliament House are in full swing.

The ceremony will be held at 2 pm.

The Ministry of Personnel has also ordered closure of certain buildings in the area till 2 pm Monday to ensure smooth conduct of the swearing in ceremony.

The construction of the new Parliament building will also be stopped during the time of the ceremony.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will also arrive to attend the swearing in ceremony of Droupadi Murmu.

Murmu is the first tribal woman to be elected to the office of President of India.
