'Placed under house arrest,' Mehbooba Mufti claims after being restricted to visit slain Kashmiri pandit's house

Srinagar/IBNS/UNI: Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti on Sunday claimed that she has been put under house arrest.

She was supposed to visit the house of Kashmiri pandit Sunil Kumar’s family who was killed by unknown militants on Aug 17 at Chotigam in the Shopian district.

"My attempts to visit Suneil Kumar’s family at Chotigam today were scuttled by the administration. The same administration claims that locking us up is for our own security while they themselves visit every nook & corner of the Valley," Mehbooba said in a tweet.

The former chief minister has also shared a picture of a security bunker vehicle stationed outside her Fairview residence at Gupkar Gate.

In another tweet, she alleged: "The Government of India wants to push the plight of Kashmiri pandits under the rug because it’s their callous policies that’ve led to unfortunate targeted killings of those who chose not to flee. Projecting us mainstream as their enemy is why Ive been placed under house arrest today."
