Peepli Live co-director Mahmood Farooqui sentenced for 7 yrs on rape charge

New Delhi, Aug 4 (IBNS) A Delhi court on Thursday convicted and sentenced to jail for seven years Mahmood Farooqui, co-director of the critically acclaimed film Peepli Live, for raping an American research scholar.

The woman was a guest of Farooqui when he allegedly raped her.

The prosecution earlier had demanded maximum punishment for the filmmaker.

He was arrested in June 2015  by the Delhi Police on charges of raping the American woman in New Delhi.
