Parrikar warns Pakistan of 'proactive steps' against proxy war
Lucknow, Jan 13 (IBNS): Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on Tuesday warned Pakistan that India will take "proactive steps" to deal with proxy war by that country.
"We want peace with our neighbours, but if there is an attempt for proxy war, we will take some proactive steps. What kind of proactive steps cannot be revealed in a press conference. But, I can assure you that we will ensure that enemy doesn't show any interest in proxy war or the interest comes down," he said at a press conference.
Replying to a question on the possibility of a dialogue with Pakistan, Parrikar said, "India's position is very clear. The stand taken by the Ministry of External Affairs is clear. If any dialogue has to be done with Pakistan, they should first stop ceasefire violation and intrusion of terrorists."
Earlier in the day, Army chief General Dalbir Singh said Pakistan was still 'desperate' in continuing 'proxy war' in Jammu and Kashmir despite itself suffering from it.
"Pakistan is supporting proxy war in Jammu and Kashmir despite suffering casualties in its own country," he said while addressing his annual press conference here.
"Recent strike by terrorists indicate their desperation, also indicates that the camps that that there across the border are intact," he added.
It is because of 'active borders' that threats and challenges were growing, General Singh said.
He informed that 110 terrorists were neutralized in Jammu and Kashmir by Indian forces in 2014.
