Mumbai/IBNS: Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan on Monday appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED), which had summoned her in connection with the Panama papers case, media reports said.

The probe agency has reportedly recorded the statement of the 48-year-old popular Indian actress.

Aishwarya, the daughter-in-law of acting legend Amitabh Bachchan and wife of actor Abhishek Bachchan, has been alleged to have stashed her wealth abroad.

In one of the worst scandals involving huge number of  rich and famous  across the globe, a  massive leak of 11.5 million tax documents has exposed the secret offshore dealings of aides to Russian president Vladimir Putin, Chinese Premier Xi Jinping, Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and celebrities including Barcelona forward Lionel Messi and actor Jackie Chan, reports said.

Five hundred Indians including Amitabh Bachchan are also named in the documents.

Rubbishing the allegations, Bachchan had earlier denied suggestions of him having any kind of links with offshore companies listed in the Panama papers leak.

Bachchan said his name might have been 'misused'.
