Pampore, Oct 12 (IBNS) : The encounter in Pampore near Srinagar ended on Wednesday afternoon after 60 hours of gun battle as the Army took control of the building after two terrorists were shot dead, reports said.

The bodies of the two terrorists, killed on Tuesday and Wednesday, have been recovered as soldiers are still clearing each of the rooms of the huge seven-storey Government building to ensure that no other terrorist is left.

An Army officer told NDTV that  the operation took time because it was a huge building with 120 rooms and "we had to keep patience to ensure that there is no collateral damage."

He said there was not a single casualty on the Army side.

The terrorists had barged into the Entrepreneurship Development Institute building on Monday evening engaging the Army in gun battle since then.

According to an NDTV report, over 50 rockets, machines guns and hundreds of grenades have been used against the terrorists.

A soldier was injured in the initial firing after the terrorists entered the building.

The reports quoted officials as saying that the e encounter has stretched on because the building offers a "bunker-like" protection.
