Pakistan needs to join other nations in combating terrorism: John Kerry

"We don't make distinctions between good and bad terrorists. Terror is terror," said Kerry in a joint press briefing at New Delhi.

The U.S. Secretary of State, who on Tuesday engaged in in extensive "strategic and commercial dialogue" with External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, reiterated that his country lends support to India's demand that Pakistan must punish the culprits involved in the brutal 26/11 attack and those responsible of January's terror strike on the Pathankot air force base.

During the joint press briefing, Sushma Swaraj said: "I told John Kerry that Pakistan has to take action against the LET (Lashkar-e-Taiba) , Jaish (e-Mohammed) and D company."

Kerry has urged Pakistan to join other countries in their fight against terrorism.

“My hope is that Pakistan as a country is not isolated by this but is encouraged by this,” Kerry said adding: "It is vital that Pakistan join with other nations in tackling this challenge, and in fairness in recent weeks and months they have been moving more authoritatively in the western part of the country."

Besides supporting India on its demand to Pakistan regarding terrorism, Kerry has also confirmed that progress was made on an agreement about the construction of six nuclear reactors by US giant Westinghouse.

"We hope to see our civil nuclear cooperation take shape in the form of new reactors that will deliver reliable electricity to tens of millions of Indian households," Kerry told media.

Swaraj also extended her thanks to Kerry for America's support to India's bid to join the elite Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG), a group of 48 countries.
