Pakistan: Islamabad court rejects plea to stop Indian pilot's release

Islamabad, Mar 1 (IBNS): The Islamabad High Court on Friday dismissed a plea against the release of the Indian Air Force pilot captured by Pakistan.

Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman was captured by Pakistan on Wednesday.

"Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Athar Minallah heard the case hours before his release," reported Samaa TV.

As per the Samaa TV report, "Justice Minallah asked the petitioner who made the decision to release the pilot. It was made by Prime Minister Imran Khan, he answered his own question."

It was announced during a session of parliament and no parliamentarian raised any objections so this is a policy matter and we must respect parliament, he was quoted as saying by the Pakistani TV channel.

Indian Air Force Pilot Abhinandan Varthaman scheduled to be handed over to India  on Friday.

Two days, ago the IAF Wing Commander was captured by the Pakistan Army two days ago after his aircraft crashed across the Line of Control.

Media reports said Pakistan has rejected India's request to send him back in an IAF (Indian Air Force) plane and instead decided to send him through the border.

Indian authorities have been formally informed of Pakistan's decision to release captured Indian Air Force officer, Wing Commander, sources within the Foreign Office  told DawnNewsTV.

Acting Indian High Commissioner Gaurav Ahluwalia on Friday visited the Pakistan foreign office to fulfil formalities ahead of the Indian pilot's release, it said.

Pakistan PM Imran Khan on Thursday announced the Indian pilot will be released a 'peace gesture'.
