Our efforts are aimed at transforming India: Modi

Manila, Nov 13 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday addressed  community programme in Manila and said his government is aiming to transform India and make everything in the nation to match global standards.

"Our efforts are aimed at transforming India and ensuring everything in our nation matches global standards," Modi said.

He said Philippines is a region which is very crucial to India.

"I have come to a nation and a region that is very important for India," he said.

Speaking on India's contribution to maintain peace across the globe, Modi said: "India has always contributed to world peace. Our contingent in the UN Peacekeeping Forces is among the biggest. India is the land of Mahatma Gandhi, peace is integral to our culture."

Modi is currently in Manila to attend the  ASEAN  summit.

He met US President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the summit.
