New Delhi, Oct 25 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday urged people to donate organs to the needy on his monthly radio address 'Mann Ki Baat.'
"Organ donation is an important issue. The need for kidneys, heart and livers is high but less number of transplants happen. Some states have taken a lead on organ donation and made processes simpler. I can say Tamil Nadu is leading in donation of organs."

"Donating organ is a great thing. We must all take part in this process. Organ donation must become a strong movement," he said.

PM Modi also welcomed the African Summit in India.

"This is a festive season. In this one more festive occasion is India Africa Summit. India and Africa have many similarities. So many people of Indian origin have been staying in Africa," he said.

Modi also announced that the Gold Monetisation Scheme will be available to the nation in the coming weeks.

"Gold can be converted from dead money to a living force. This is what we want to do and I seek your support," he said.

This was the 13th edition of the programme.
