'Opposition unity my only wish, don't aim to benefit from it personally': Nitish Kumar

Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar Thursday said he only wishes that the opposition in the country will unite and this wish has nothing to do with his own aspirations.

His comment comes a day after a grand opposition rally in Telangana.

Nitish said that the opposition unity is in the interest of the nation and he has already discussed it with the opposition and would again try for it after the budget session of the Bihar legislature.

Kumar was speaking to the reporters after dedicating a statue of Maharana Pratap to the people and offering tribute to the iconic historical figure in Patna.

The JD (U) chief told newspersons that he was keen for opposition unity as this is essential in the interest of the nation and maintained that he is not doing it for his personal gains and benefits.

He would again take his mission forward in accordance with the parties coming together.

Asked about his absence at Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) President and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s rally, Kumar said he wasn’t aware of such a rally and even if he were invited, he is too preoccupied with his responsibilities to respond to such invites.

Kumar further said people who had the opportunity must have attended the rally and downplayed the issue calling it a political event of Chandrashekhar Rao.
