One killed, two injured of Assam Rifles in encounter with terrorists in Arunachal Pradesh

Guwahati/IBNS: A jawan of the Assam Rifles was martyred and two others were injured during an encounter with the terrorists of the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (Khaplang-Yung Aung) in Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh on Saturday, media reports said.

"One Assam Rifles jawan was martyred and two others injured in an encounter between security forces and militants at Longvi village under Nampong circle in Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh," Changlang Deputy Commissioner Devansh Yadav said, was quoted as saying by NDTV.

He said a massive anti-insurgency operation has been launched to flush out the terrorists from the area, the stated the report.

The injured paramilitary personnel were airlifted from the site of encounter.

"A column of Assam Rifles was launched to carry out an operation around 9 am. Suddenly, the soldiers came under heavy firing in which the jawan was martyred after receiving bullet injury," said a police source, the district police chief added.

The security forces and the terrorists clashed 8 km from Longvi village under Nampong circle in Arunachal Pradesh, the report informed.

Various factions of National Socialist Council of Nagaland or NSCN have waged guerilla attacks for six decades against central rule.

The Centre had signed a framework agreement with NSCN-IM in 2015 following a dialogue that started in 1997.

The talks had derailed but the outfit recently said the talks were back on track.
