One killed, three injured in BTAD blast

Guwahati, Apr 12 (IBNS): One civilian was killed and three others were injured in a powerful explosion in Assam's BTAD area on Saturday morning, police said.

The explosion took place at Borjhar area near Orang in BTAD area on the wee hours of Saturday after the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) election result was declared.

Suspected militants had triggered the explosion in the area in which a civilian was killed and three others were injured.

The deceased person was identified as Ram Chandra Barman.

The injured persons, who were identified as Gopal Das, Sitarani Das and Pawan Dey were admitted to nearby hospital.

Top police and army officials have rushed to the area and launched an operation against the militants.

Hagrama Mahilary led BPF had captured 20 seats in 40 seats BTC Council elections. The result of the polls was declared on Friday.

Apart from BPF, PCDR had captured six council constituencies, AIUDF and Sanmilita Janagoshthiya Eikyamancha captured four seats each, three by ABSS, one by BJP and two by Independent candidates.

The third BTC election was held on Apr 8.
