NRIs now want to go back to India : Modi tells Indians in South Korea

| | May 18, 2015, at 08:59 pm
Seoul, South Korea, May 18 (IBNS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said India is now undergoing a change for the better and even the NRIs want to come back to their homeland.

Modi, who reached the capital of South Korea in the morning was addressing  a reception organised by the Indian community, which around 1500 people attended.

"There  used to be a point in time when people used to regret being born in India and leaving the country saying it is no good. They wanted to leave for better opportunities," he said.

"Now, those people are saying they are ready to come back even if their incomes are lower than in other places. The mood has changed."

"We went India to become a manufacturing hub. World's best technology to come to India...India is now the fastest-growing economy of the world."

"But we need to work towards getting out or resolving these problems," Modi said.

"I have come with one medicinal herb that I am offering as a remedy to India's problems. And that medicinal herb is 'development'...

Development is not just about making big buildings or good roads...I want to improve the quality of life," he said.

Referring to the technological advancement in Korea, Modi urged the Indians living there "to help us with technological advancement when we need it."

He said India has chosen the "path of humanity" to reconnect to the world by standing by the side of its  neighbours like Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Bhutan in the hour of need. The government has also been able to resolve the boundary issue with Bangladesh in one year.

"This was historic, because it was the first time that both the Lower House and Upper House of Parliament passed a bill unanimously," he said referring to the land swap deal with Bangladesh to resolve the long standing enclave problem.
