Normal life crippled in south Kashmir's Pulwama

| @indiablooms | Feb 19, 2019, at 08:51 pm

Srinagar, Feb 19 (UNI/IBNS) Normal life was on Tuesday crippled as shops and business establishments were closed and traffic was off the roads in south Kashmir district of Pulwama, where a civilian and three Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militants were killed in an encounter with security forces on Monday.

Official sources said that there were no restrictions in any part of south Kashmir though security forces remained deployed in strength to maintain law and order.

Even though there was no strike called by separatists, business and other activities were crippled in the main town and adjoining areas in Pulwama on Tuesday. But, some private vehicles were plying in the interior roads.

However, life was normal in other south Kashmir districts, including Anantnag, Kulgam and Shopian.

Traffic was also plying normally on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway, where security forces remained deployed in strength to maintain law and order.

Five security force personnel, including an Army Major and three top militants of JeM were among nine persons, killed in a fierce about 18-hour-long fierce encounter, which ensued during a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in Pulwama on Monday.
