New Delhi, Jul 6 (IBNS) : Ruling out the meeting between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of G 20 summit, China has said that "the atmosphere is not right" for a formal or bilateral talks between the two leaders, NDTV reported.

The statement comes amid a heightening tension in the relation between the two neighbouring countries with their armies in an eyeball to eyeball situation  at the border near Sikkim.

PM Modi arrives in Hamburg on Thursday night from Israel for a conclave of the G20 group of nations.

Modi and Xi were expected to  hold bilateral meetings with other leaders at the summit.

China has this week issued a series of warnings to India demanding withdrawal of its troops from an area in the tri-junction of India's Sikkim, Bhutan and China where.

Beijing claims the area as its own.

Indian soldiers arrived at the area early in June to stop the construction of a road-an act perceived by  New Delhi holds as "a serious security concern."

China says the Indian Army's actions violate an 1890 border agreement.
