Nitish-Lalu set to capture Bihar battle

Patna, Nov 8 (IBNS): Bihar witnessed a pre-Diwali celebration on Sunday as the Grand Alliance, comprising Bihar Chief Minister Nitsh Kumar's JD(U), Lalu Prasad Yadav's RJD and Congress, emerged victorious in the Assembly polls making the RJD chief to thank the people of the state for voting in favour of them.

Counting of votes started on Sunday morning.

After a nail-biting fight to grab majority in the 243-member Bihar Assembly the RJD Chief said Bihar will move to the path of development under the leadership of Nitish Kumar.

"We will move to the path of development under the leadership of Nitish Kumar," he said while addressing a press conference here with Nitish Kumar sitting beside him.

"We will remove the Narendra Modi-led government," Yadav said.

"We thank people of Bihar for this great victory," he said minutes after the two leaders hugged each other following their victory in the crucial poll.

Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi also congratulated the winning side as his office Twitter page read: "Congratulations to the people of Bihar, to Nitishji,to Laluji,to the Congress leaders &karyakartas & the Mahagathbandhan on this victory."

As per the latest trend, the Grand Alliance is ahead in 176 seats while the BJP-led alliance stood in the second spot with 61 seats. Others grabbed six seats.
