Patna, Jan 16 (TheBiharPost/IBNS): Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar on Monday announced to initiate tough action against the officials found guilty for the Saturday boat tragedy in Patna.

“The government is investigating the incident from all angles. Anyone found guilty will not be spared,” the chief minister told the media.

He also declared the government would not tolerate any lapses on the part of the probe team.

Stating he was shocked at the incident, the CM said he had asked to investigate as to at whose level the kite flying festival was organized and how his photographed was used in the advertisement issued by the tourism development without his permission.

He said the department concerned should have made arrangement to send the people back when they invited them for the festival.

“The entire gamut of negligence on the part of the tourism department will be investigated,” Kumar said, denying any information about the kite flying festival.

He announced from now on no any function would be organized in the diyara (sandy beds of river) areas without the permission of the chief secretary.

At least 25 people were killed when an overcrowded boat sank in river Ganga near NIT ghat in Patna on Saturday evening. Most of the victims were from poor background.
