NDFB(S) militants attack on SSB patrol group in Kokrajhar

Guwahati, Dec 26 (IBNS) : NDFB(S) militants on Friday attacked on a patrolling group of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) in Lower Assam's Chirang district when security forces led by the Indian Army had jointly launched an all out operation against the extremist group who responsible for killing at least 80 tribal people in Kokrajhar and Sonitpur districts of the state.

The inside took place at Phoisana Bazar area under Bijni sub division in the district on Friday evening.

NDFB(S) militants had lobbed a grenade targeting to SSB patrol group at the remote area and fire before fleeing into the nearby thick jungles.

No casualties have been reported so far in the attack.

CRPF personnel from nearby Panbari camp had rushed to the area and jointly launched operation with SSB to trace the fled militants.


On other hand Army chief Dalbir Singh Suhag will visit to Assam on Saturday.

He will attend a crucial security meeting with top officials of security forces and the Assam government.

On other hand, former Chief Minister of Jharkhand Babulal Marandi had blamed the Assam government for the recent violence who visited the affected areas in Kokrajhar district on Saturday.

Marandi demanded to arrange proper security to the innocent adivasi people in Assam.

Meanwhile a crucial Unified Command meeting was held at Assam CM Tarun Gogoi's official residence at Koinadhara outskirts of Guwahati on Saturday evening.
