Narendra Modi calls for inclusive and broad-based reforms
New Delhi, Nov 6 (IBNS) The idea of reforms in India should be inclusive and broad-based, and should not be limited to a few standard notions, Prime Minister Narendra Modi told the industry and people on Friday in Delhi.
"Reform is that which helps all citizens and especially the poor achieve a better life. It is Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas," he said inaugurating the sixth Delhi Economics Conclave.
Stating that the country is performing better in all segments from the time he and his party, the Incumbent BJP government have taken the office, Modi said he expects the country to rise to new levels.
"By almost every major economic indicator. India is doing better than when we took office 17 months ago," the PM said.
Modi has also hailed the 'Make In India' and 'Ease of Doing Business' initiative. "Our work on ‘Make in India’ and ‘Ease of Doing Business’ is of course well known."
He also announced the inclusion of a number of new projects and schemes in the country.
"We have introduced a Universal Account Number which will remain with an employee even when he changes jobs," Modi said.
He said, "We have undertaken major managerial improvements in the transport sector."
"Pace of award of new highway works increased from 5.2 km per day in 2012-13 & 8.7 km per day in 2013-14 to 23.4 km per day currently," Modi said stating the development in the infrastructure sector.
He also spoke about the maximum gain for each sector, "Maximum value for every rupee spent. Maximum empowerment for our poor. Maximum technology penetration among the masses."

Modi said: "We embarked on a course of fiscal consolidation. We entered for 1st time into a monetary framework agreement with RBI to curb inflation."
He said the GDP growth is up and inflation is down, foreign investment is up, and current account deficit is down.
He said the JAM (Jan-Dhan Aadhar Mobile) Vision is just about achieving maximum.
"Another financial reform is the provision of a safety net through new social security schemes," he said.
He said India has great entrepreneurial energy and this needs to be harnessed so that "we become a nation of job-creators rather than job seekers."
"What we have done in the last 17 months is to bring one hundred and ninety million people into the banking system," he said, adding that reforming to transform is a marathon , not a sprint:
He said agriculture remains India’s mainstay in terms of providing livelihood. "We have introduced a series of reforms," he said.
