Narada sting: ED interrogates TMC MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar

Kolkata, Oct 24 (IBNS): The Enforcement Directorate on Tuesday quizzed Trinamool Congress (TMC) Lok Sabha MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar in connection with its ongoing probe into the Narada sting operation, officials said.

According to reports, Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar appeared at ED office at CGO Complex in Kolkata's Salt Lake area at around 11:30 am. with several documents.

ED sources claimed that the doctor-turned-MP is currently being interrogated and her statement is being recorded.

Earlier on July 14, officials of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) visited Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar's residence in Madhyamgram, on the outskirts of Kolkata, and questioned the TMC MP from Barasat Lok Sabha constituency for hours in connection with the same case.

Since Mar 14 last year, news portal- Narada News- released several sting operation footage, where TMC's leaders, ministers, MPs and MLAs were exposed while allegedly taking bribes.

From the beginning, TMC leaderships had claimed that the sting footage was doctored and a conspiracy of the Opposition.

After getting direction from the Calcutta High Court and Supreme Court, the CBI has started probe into the case.

On April 17, the investigation agency registered an FIR in connection with the case under several non-bailable sections against 12 influential leaders, cabinet ministers, MLAs and MPs of TMC and one senior IPS officer, who were seen taking bribes in the sting footage, reports said.

Besides CBI, the Enforcement Directorate (ED), has registered a money laundering case in Narada sting and it's currently investigating the case.
