Narada sting: CBI visits Kolkata Mayor's office, ED summons Mukul Roy, 3 TMC MPS for interrogation

Kolkata, Oct 13 (IBNS): The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday served notices to former Trinamool Congress (TMC) Rajya Sabha MP Mukul Roy and three other Lok Sabha MPs of TMC, Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, Prasun Banerjee and Sougata Roy, in connection with the Narada sting operation, sources said.

According to officials, Mukul Roy and three other TMC lawmakers have been directed to appear at ED office at CGO Complex in Kolkata's Salt Lake area, in the last week of October, for interrogation.

Meanwhile, a four-member team of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday morning visited Kolkata Mayor Sovan Chatterjee's office at Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) headquarters, for reconstruction of the incident.

A CBI source told IBNS that investigators went there to confirm whether Narada News's former CEO Mathew Samuel handed over money to Sovan Chatterjee inside his chamber at KMC building.

CBI officials reportedly took photographs and videographs of Sovan Chatterjee's office and questioned him too.

Since Mar 14 last year, news portal- Narada News- released several sting operation footage, where TMC's leaders, ministers, MPs and MLAs, were allegedly seen accepting bribes.

From the beginning, TMC leadership had claimed that the sting footage was doctored and a conspiracy of the opposition parties.

After getting direction from the Calcutta High Court and Supreme Court, the CBI has started a probe into the case.

On April 17, the investigation agency registered an FIR in connection with the case, under several non-bailable sections, against 12 influential leaders, cabinet ministers, MLAs and MPs of TMC and one senior IPS officer, who were seen allegedly taking bribes in the sting footage, reports said.

Besides CBI, the Enforcement Directorate (ED), has registered a money laundering case in the Narada sting and currently investigating the case.
