Murder case registered against policemen after dalit man dies in custody

Kanpur, Aug 5 (IBNS): A murder case was registered against five policemen after a dalit (backward caste) man died in their custody, media reports said.

The incident took place on Thursday in Chakeri area of Uttar Pradesh and resulted in the suspension of 12 others.

Kamal Valmiki,  the deceased, has been identified as a 26-year old man and is said to have died under mysterious circumstances.

The family of the deceased alleged brutality against policemen of Ahirwan police station.

An investigation is currently underway.
