Mumbai: CISF detects 35,000 US dollars worth Rs 24.64 lakh in airport

New Delhi, May 18 (UNI) The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) on Friday detected 35,000 US dollars worth Rs 24.64 lakh from two Sudanese nationals at Mumbai airport, an official release said here on Saturday.

On May 17, around 0920 hrs, during pre-embarkation security check through scanning machine at Mumbai Airport, CISF personnel noticed suspicious images inside bags of the two passengers.


On suspicion, the bags were selected for a thorough search and on physical checking of the bags in presence of the passengers, 35,000 US dollars worth around Rs 24.64 lakh were detected from their bags.

The passengers later identified as Maha Osman Gali Mohammad, and Mona Adam Mohammad Zain, both Sudanese nationals, could not produce valid documents for the presence of this high volume of foreign currency.


Later, the matter was informed to Customs officials for further necessary action.
