New Delhi, Oct 2 (IBNS): At least three people sustained injuries after a Muharram procession in Gujarat's Vadodara turned violent, reports said.

In a similar incident, city police in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur made 12 arrests.

In Vadodara, police resorted to firing tear-gas shells in an attempt to curb the violence.

The injured were moved to a nearby private hospital.

In Kanpur, the scuffle broke out as a result of an ongoing clash between two communities.

The said parties were also involved in hurling bricks at each others' vehicles.

The mob even destroyed vehicles by setting them alight.

Over 400 police personnel have been deployed to bring the situation under control and keep violence in check.
