MoS I&B meets Global Film Industry stakeholders at Cannes Film Festival
Cannes, May 15 (IBNS): Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore met Minister of State for Culture, Communications & Creative Industries, UK, Ed Vaizey and other key stakeholders in the international film industry at Cannes Film Festival-2016.
The purpose of the meetings was to apprise them about the new initiatives taken by the Government of India in the films sector and the myriad opportunities available for the global film industry in India.
During the interaction the Ministers also discussed about the participation of United Kingdom in the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) held every year in Goa.
Rathore also met Jerome Paillard, Executive Director, Marche Du Film, Cannes Film Festival and Cameron Bailey, Artistic Director, Toronto International Film Festival.
During a brief half an hour interaction, the Minister apprised them about the International Film Festival of India and seek their engagement and involvement to take IFFI to greater heights in the near future and in league with the other International Film Festivals.
During his meeting with Carolle Brabant, CEO, Telefilm Canada Rathore discussed and explored the strategies to promote co-production between India and Canada. India has a co-production agreement with Telefilm Canada which promotes co-production in Canada.
Later in the day, the Minister met Kevin Clark, Executive Director, and Association of Film Commissioners International (AFCI).
During the interaction, Col. Rathore discussed the inclusion of recently established Film Facilitation Office in India in the AFCI network for the betterment of Indian Film Industry. AFSI is a non-profit educational organization constituting worldwide network of more than 300 commissions spread across six continents.
