Mortal remains of Meghalaya Assembly Speaker reach Guwahati

Guwahati, July 29 (IBNS) : The mortal remains of Meghalaya Legislative Assembly Speaker Dr Donkupar Roy, who passed away on Sunday was brought to Guwahati on Monday.

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma and many others were present at Guwahati airport to receive the body of Dr Roy.

Dr Roy breathed his last at the Medanta Super Speciality hospital at Gurgaon, Delhi where he was admitted on July 19 for undergoing treatment.

Dr Roy’s body was brought to his official residence in Shillong and then will be taken to his constituency Shella on July 30.

His funeral will be held on July 31.

Meanwhile, the Meghalaya government has declared state holiday on July 31 and the state will observe a 3-day mourning.
