Moga horror: Family agrees to cremate victim

Moga, May 3 (IBNS): The family of a teenage girl, who died following molestation and then was pushed off a moving bus in Punjab's Moga district, has decided to cremate her.

The victim's father told media: "We want to go ahead with cremation. Return my daughter's body to me."

The decision was taken after a talks between the government and the family of the victim.

The family has reportedly accepted the compensation offered by the Punjab government.

Four days after a teenage girl died following molestation and then was pushed off a moving bus in Punjab's Moga district, CCTV footage has emerged of the bus showing the vehicle being driven recklessly on a highway, just minutes before the incident.

The video showed the bus speeding on the four-lane Moga-Kotkapura highway before dangerously swerving to the right.

It showed that the bus narrowly avoided a collision with a tractor which was coming from the opposite direction.

The bus then halts on the opposite lane and picks up the cleaner Amar Ram who alongwith three others - including the conductor - who later allegedly abused the 14-year-old girl and her mother before throwing them off the bus.

This bus, belonging to Orbit Aviation, which is co-owned by Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal's family, had tinted windows and curtains, in blatant violation of rules.

The Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party earlier took out protests in Punjab and Delhi and demanded that the bus company be shut down.

Reports earlier said the mother was seriously injured and in hospital while the girl died after they were pushed off the bus. The incident occurred in Moga district of Punjab on Moga-Bhatinda highway, near Moga city.

The injured mother, 38, had said no one helped them as they were thrown off the running bus. She was picked up from road in a sorry state and taken to Civil Hospital, Baghapurana, for treatment but the girl died after she was thrown off the bus.

The woman, her daughter and son were going to a gurdwara when the incident happened on Wednesday. The son was dropped off the bus later.

The bus conductor did not help and instead of protecting them also joined the men, alleged the woman.
