Moga girl's death triggers uproar by opposition in Lok Sabha

New Delhi, May 5 (IBNS) The death of a teenager who was molested and thrown off a bus last week in Punjab's Moga on Tuesday triggered an uproar in the Lok Sabha as the opposition took up the issue to raise a storm of protests.

The Congress moved an adjournment motion, seeking suspension of Question Hour to discuss law and order in the state. However, the Speaker rejected the motion, leading to protests and a brief adjournment.

The Aam Aadmi Party reportedly plans to move a similar motion.

There have been massive protests in Delhi and in Moga in Punjab, where the 14-year-old girl was killed after being thrown off the bus that belongs to Aviation Orbit, a transport company owned by Punjab chief minister Prakash Singh Badal's family.

The girl's mother was also  pushed off the bus by few miscreants. She is now in hospital with severe injuries.

The bus driver, conductor and cleaner of the bus are among four men arrested and charged with murder.

The Opposition has alleged that the staff of the private bus company has for years unleashed a reign of terror on Punjab roads, breaking the law now and then.
