New Delhi/Dhaka, July 21 (IBNS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Bangladesh counterpart Sheikh Hasina on Thursday jointly inaugurated the newly-constructed Petrapole Integrated Check Post through video-conference.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee joined the video conference.

"The growth and development of India is connected with the development of the neighbouring nations," Modi said at the inauguration of the Check Post.

During the video conference , Modi extended his deepest condolences to Hasina on the recent militant  attacks in Bangladesh.

He appreciated Hasina and said: "You have set an example by your leadership skills in the entire region."

Modi said India is beside Bangladesh in its fight against terrorism.

"You should not think yourself alone in the fight against terrorism. India is always beside you," Modi said.

Bangladesh witnessed a major terror attack earlier this month when militants stormed into a popular cafe in capital Dhaka and killed at least 20 people.

He also thanked Mamata Banerjee for joining the video conference.

"I thank @MamataOfficial ji for joining the programme today & appreciate her role in improving India-Bangladesh ties," Modi tweeted.
