Modi speaks to Sharif, wishes him well ahead of surgery

Islamabad/New Delhi, May 31 (IBNS): Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif telephoned Narendra Modi and expressed gratitude for Indian Prime Minister's best wishes for his upcoming operation and wishes for a speedy recovery.

Speaking on the conversation, Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement  said: "Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif telephoned Prime Minister Modi today (30 May) and expressed gratitude for Indian Prime Minister's best wishes for his upcoming operation and wishes for a speedy recovery."

MEA spokesperson Vikas Swarup tweeted: "PM @narendramodi receives phone call from PM Nawaz Sharif just before Pak PM is wheeled in for surgery. Wishes him a speedy recovery."

The Pakistan PM will undergo a surgery in the UK on Tuesday.

Modi on Saturday, extended his wishes to Sharif, ahead of the latter's open heart surgery.

Tweeting a message to Sharif's daughter about her father's recovery, Modi said, "My best wishes to PM Nawaz SharifSahab for his open heart surgery on Tuesday. And for his speedy recovery & good health. @MaryamNSharif."
