Modi should choose his Cabinet: Parrikar

New Delhi, May 20 (IBNS) Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Tuesday said Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi should decide who will be given what responsibility in his Cabinet.

"The Cabinet should of the PM's choice. If you are going to hold someone responsible for their action then he should be given the freedom to for the Cabinet too," Parrikar told CNN-IBN after meeting Modi on Tuesday morning.

"Modi's task is not going to be easy. The expectations are high and were building up even before he became the PM. Modi needs to be given a reasonable amount of time to build his own team," he said.

"The BJP forming a government on its own is the day of a lifetime," the Goa CM told the news channel.

Modi will on Tuesday meet President Pranab Mukherjee and stake claim to form the new government.

Before that, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s Parliamentary Board will meet at the party's headquarters in central Delhi and elect Modi as the Leader of the Parliamentary party.

BJP patriarch LK Advani will propose Modi's name at the meeting and senior leaders like Venkaiah Naidu, Jaitley, Murli Manohar Joshi and Sushma Swaraj will support him.

At the same meeting date for Modi's oath taking ceremony will be finalized, said BJP president Rajnath Singh.
