Modi should at least take care of real chowkidars: Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi, Mar 22 (UNI): Taking a pot shot against Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the ‘MeinBhiChowkidar’ campaign, Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Friday criticised the PM and the NDA government for non payment of salaries to 'chowkidars' for last several months.

Taking to social media, Rahul shared a news report on 10,000 chowkidars are not getting salary for last four months in the BJP-ruled Jharkhand, wrote “at least take care of those people in whose garb you are hiding”.

Reports said "chowkidars" in 24 districts, each of whom monitors 10 villagers have not been paid their salaries.

Against the Congress' criticism against the Union government over Rafale fighter jet deal and the slogan 'chowkidar chor hai', coined by Rahul Gandhi, the Prime Minister started the counter campaign "MeiBhiChowkidar", last week.

Along with Modi, Union ministers and BJP activists have prefixed their names with "Chowkidar" on Twitter.

Despite the counter campaign, the Congress has shown no intention of stopping its own "Chowkidar Chor Hai" campaign.
