Modi meets Chinese President Xi Jinping

Xi'an, China, May 14 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who began his three-day trip to China on Thursday, met Chinese President Xi Jinping in Xian for 90 minutes ahead of the state banquet for the Indian leader as a part of the grand welcome in the neighbouring country.

During their meeting, the two leaders discussed ways to strengthen trust between two countries.

They also deliberated  on connectivity issues along with ways to build cooperation to fight against terrorism.

Indian Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar told media, "Discussions were wide ranging and detailed, atmosphere was very comfortable. There was a discussion on strengthening trust and increasing convergence, trade deficit was also discussed. Regional and global issues were discussed Increasing convergence."

Modi was given a grand reception at the state banquet.

Modi is on a three-day visit to China. The ancient town of  Xi'an is the home of Chinese President XI Jinping.

He was taken for a visit to Daxingshan temple which he found "beautiful."
