Modi invites Obama to visit India

Washington, Sept 30 (IBNS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi met US President Barack Obama in the White House where the two leaders held bilateral talks on Tuesday.

During a joint press briefing, Modi said he was 'glad' to meet the US President in the early phase of his tenure.

" I am thankful to President Obama for his warm welcome. I am glad to have been able to meet the President in the early part of my tenure," Modi said.

"President Obama and I talked about economic issues. Our economic relations will improve even further," he said.

Speaking on his meeting with the President, he said: "We had an open discussion on WTO issue. We support trade facilitation but a solution that takes care of our food security must be found."

Modi also invited Obama and his family to visit India.

Obama said he is looking forward to building upon relationship with India.
