Modi greets Manmohan, Sonia on Dusshera

New Delhi, Oct 3 (IBNS): A rare bonhomie occurred between the ruling NDA government and the former UPA government when Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared dias with his predecessor Dr. Manmohan Singh and Congress Chairperson Sonia Gandhi on the occasion of Dusshera in New Delhi on Friday.

President Pranab Mukherjee was the Guest of Honour in the occasion
which took place in the Ramlila Maidan in the capital.

Mukherjee, while delivering a speech on the occasion said, “Dusshera
teaches us to face challenges with determination. It tells us about the
victory of good over evil.”

Also graced the occasion was Vice-President Hamid Ansari and Congress
Vice President Rahul Gandhi.

But the star attraction was of course the ‘combination’ of Modi and
Sonia-Manmohan, who were seen exchanging greetings on the auspicious
occasion.

Pranab Mukherjee lighted the lamp to officially inaugurate the event.

The dignitaries also applied tilak on the foreheads of young men
dressed as Lord Ram, Lord Lakshman and Lord Hanuman.

After that, scenes from the Ram-leela were being enacted on stage.

All witnessed the burning of the effigy of Ravana in Vijaya Dashami.
