New Delhi/IBNS: Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, who backed the Indian Armed Forces' Operation Sindoor and also the ceasefire, has been picked by the Modi government as the leader of a delegation which will carry forth to the world India's strong message of zero-tolerance on global terrorism.

The government has formed seven all-delegations which will visit key partner countries including members of the UN Security Council later this month to carry the message in the context of Operation Sindoor.

The delegations will showcase India's national consensus and resolute approach to combating terrorism globally.

Each delegation comprises Members of Parliament from different parties, political personalities, and diplomats.

Tharoor has been picked as one of the seven leaders who will lead seven different all-party delegations to key partner nations.

Leaders of the Seven Delegations

1. Shashi Tharoor – INC

2. Ravi Shankar Prasad – BJP

3. Sanjay Kumar Jha – JDU

4. Baijayant Panda – BJP

5. Kanimozhi Karunanidhi – DMK

6. Supriya Sule – NCP

7. Shrikant Eknath Shinde – Shiv Sena

Sharing the list, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said on X, "In moments that matter most, Bharat stands united.

"Seven All-Party Delegations will soon visit key partner nations, carrying our shared message of zero-tolerance to terrorism. A powerful reflection of national unity above politics, beyond differences."

Tharoor, a former diplomat who is facing the Congress' ire for praising Modi government's foreign policies of late, said he felt "honoured" and always ready to serve the country.

He says, "I am honoured by the invitation of the government of India to lead an all-party delegation to five key capitals, to present our nation’s point of view on recent events. When national interest is involved, and my services are required, I will not be found wanting. Jai Hind!"

Operation Sindoor was a fierce military operation launched by the Indian Air Force (IAF) on May 7, in response to the Pahalgam attack that killed 26 tourists who were enjoying their vacation at Baisaran Valley, which is referred to as India's Switzerland.

The operation aimed to dismantle terrorist bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

After the Pakistan Army again targeted Indian civilians and resorted to cross-border firing, the Indian Armed Forces retaliated, destroying defence systems of the hostile neighbour.

On Pakistan's appeal, India responded with a ceasefire on May 10 but Prime Minister Narendra Modi warned of fresh retaliation if Islamabad goes astray.
