MNS chief to contest Maharashtra Assembly polls
Mumbai, June 1 (IBNS): In a major move, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray has announced at a rally in Mumbai that he will contest the upcoming Assembly polls in the state.
He also hinted at contesting the election as the Chief Ministerial candidate.
"People have a lot of love for and expectations from our party. If the mandate is for MNS, I will not hesitate to lead it," Thackeray said.
With this announcement, the MNS chief will be the first member of the Thackeray family to contest an election.
Raj Thackarey's MNS lost badly in the Lok Sabha polls.
The Maharashtra Assembly elections are due in October 2014.
