MK Stalin elected as new DMK president
Chennai, Aug 28 (IBNS): Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister late Muthuvel Karunanidhi's son MK Stalin got elected as the Dravida Munnetra Kazghagam (DMK) president on Tuesday, media reports said.
Stalin (65), who became the party's working president in 2017, succeeded his father Karunanidhi.
The DMK president's post had fallen vacant after party patriarch Karunanidhi's demise on Aug 7, 2018.
Following Karunanidhi's death, a succession war within the party took place with Alagiri, the other son of the late DMK president, claiming several party loyalists are with him.
Alagiri was expelled from the DMK in 2014 for "anti-party activities".
