Mithun Chakraborty's wallet stolen at BJP's rally in poll-bound Jharkhand

Ranchi/IBNS: In what has earned taunts from the Opposition, veteran actor and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Mithun Chakraborty's wallet was stolen from an election rally in Jharkhand's Dhanbad on Tuesday, media reports said.

When Mithun, who found himself in an awkward position, informed other BJP leaders about the incident, one party member appealed from the dais to the supporters to return the wallet if anyone had stolen it.

The video of the appeal has gone viral on social media.

Taking a dig, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, which rules the state, put up an X post saying, "The pickpocketing BJP did not spare even the great actor Mithun Da. People of Jharkhand should be cautious of pickpocket BJP..."

Mithun led a massive show in Jharkhand's East Singhbhum district on Monday.

Jharkhand went into the first of two-phase elections on Wednesday.

Jharkhand, which has 82 seats in total, has got 683 candidates in fray in the first of the two-phase elections.

The ruling coalition led by JMM and Congress primarily is taking on an upbeat Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which is aiming to return to power in the state in a bid to give fuel to the momentum it got after the Haryana victory last month.
