Missing Najeeb Ahmed: Students protest at India Gate

New Delhi, Nov 6 (IBNS): Students of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) demonstrated close to the India Gate here over missing student Najeeb Ahmed.

Left activists had earlier alleged that Najeeb Ahmed, a student of  the School of Biotechnology, reportedly went missing after he had a fight with activists of the ABVP last month.

The ABVP has denied its involvement in the matter.

The police have reportedly detained the protesting students.

The students were demonstrating against the failure of authorities to trace the missing student.

Najeev's mother Fatima Nafees has also been detained by the police, media reports said.

"Delhi Police is dragging  Najeeb Ahmed's mother. Najeeb is mising for 23 days. They had beaten up late ex-serviceman Ram Kishan's son few days ago. Modi ji, it is shameful," Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted.

He met President Pranab Mukherjee over the issue of the missing student earlioer in the day .

"Met Hon'ble Prez to seek his intervention on missing JNU student Najeeb. He assured of all support n that he will seek report from MHA n JNU," Kejriwal tweeted.

"Students were 2 protest at India Gate 2day 4 Najeeb. Police blocked all roads 2 Ind Gate,huge inconvenience.Don't convert Del into pol state," he said.
